Unsent letters #5: Worth Something
You are brave. You are strong. You are you. No matter what
they say, you are worth something. Despite what you have done, may have not
done, or will do, you are worth something. I keep saying ‘something’ purely out
of the lack of comparison to what you are worth. If I were to compare you to
something, well then you wouldn’t be worth as much as you do. Your worth is immeasurable.
I’m not trying to imply that you are perfect… actually, in
fact you are PERFECT in your own way, in a way that’s only unique to you. You
are who you are. But I must warn you, don’t use that as an excuse to mould yourself
into something you’re not. Don’t use the excuse of being ‘unique’ to become
something destructive to yourself and others around you. Don’t justify trying
actions that are not who you are on the premise that your perfect being you. Your
true self is the person you are when there is no one around. Your true self is
the person that you become and are when you have literally nothing but
yourself, when you have certainties such as money. Who you are is something
that is inside rather than out. But let me warn you, you can deceive yourself
of who you are when influenced by the things around you. The real you is happy.
The real you has no issues with acting the way that they do without the fear of
being judged. The real you is you.
I know that you overthink it sometimes. You need to stop. I know
you like to race down the highway called life. You need to stop. Slow down,
make the most of every moment. Be courageous, take changes, take a stand. Be you.
But never trample on someone else’s identity, never infringe on who someone
else is. You are you and they are they. I am I.
Your worth doesn’t come from what you do, say, how you act. Your
worth comes from something much bigger. You only have to dig deep and find out
what it is.
