Self Confidence - Sadie Robertson
Well hiya there! I hope that all is fun and dandy in your
lives as it sure isn't in mine. But in the trials, you can only grow stronger
and Sadie Robertson in the video below reminded me of that. I wanted to do a
post on just the video itself, but then I thought I might as well give you a
2in1 deal and write a YouTubers Reviewed post all at the same time. So, let me
begin...
So, Sadie Robertson is part of the family that are filmed on
the show called 'Duck Dynasty.' She is a teen with a big heart for helping
others, encouraging and teaching. I can honestly say that she one of the few
role models I could point young people to who I know they won’t be misled. I
say this as if I know her personally. I don't, but what I do know is that there
are many 'role models' out there that are good for a short season, but then
turn for the worst. From what I've seen, Sadie is rooted in her faith in Jesus,
to the extent that she had a live show where she encouraged many young girls in
learning to be themselves through trusted God. And what more do I need to say.
I honestly feel as though the best way to get attention is
to be true to who you are, and it’s obvious that she is. I look up to her and
see that God is clearly working through her in big ways, there’s no doubt about
it. For me, there is nothing better than seeing someone of a similar age being
so rooted in their faith, to me it’s honestly encouraging and something that
this generation especially needs. The best thing is that in her videos she
offers practical advice that backs much of what you would hear in a church but
coming from someone who understands what it’s like to be a teen.
Now, in terms of this video, self-confidence. Gosh how I
needed this. Before I continue, the part that got me the most was when she said
at the beginning that the worst place to try and find confidence is in
yourself, which she then goes on to explain can only be found in our identity
in God. Many of the people who advocate for self-confidence often advise us to
'look into yourself' when the problem is in fact 'yourself' so how are you
going to find the answer there? The issue with quite a lot of us is that we are
so used to trying to look after ourselves, not depending on others when in
actual fact that is sometimes the problem. When we depend on our own self-gratification,
self-evaluation, we look at ourselves with a distorted view that usually
results in us acting in accordance to this false view. It's overall deadly for
us to say the least. We need to realise that quite often when we lack self-confidence,
it’s normally, no it always something deeper than just that. It’s normally that
we feel as if we are not worth some sort of value. This could be the smallest
of feeling unwanted, but it’s there none the less. and I honestly believe that
in that situation you need to seek the one who made you, you need to be aware
where your true beginning are, and get to know who your maker says you are and
from then on you can move forward.
Enough of me talking, just watch the video and you may just
get a glimpse of understanding of how I felt by the end of it.
