The Day of Christmas #DecemberWonderings
Now I nearly forgot to post something,
but thankfully I switched my laptop on and remembered. So... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO
YOU ALL!!! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful day filled with joy and happiness
and pray that the rest of the year goes well with you.
This morning, I and my family went to
the Christmas morning service at church and I was meant to do a reading of
Isaiah 9:1-7. When I was asked by my pastor to do the reading, I at first was
like 'Oh yet another Christmas reading!' but it was when I wrote it out I felt
a connection to what the verses were saying. One of the verses that struck a
chord the most for me was verse 2 which is;
'The people walking
in darkness
Have seen a great
light;
On those living in
the land of deep darkness
A light has dawned.’
It really struck me what the words were
saying. It says that those who were in the dark have seen a light. The way I
envision it is that people in dark situations, those who feel trapped in a
cellar, lost in a web of underground tunnels, will finally see the light, even
the smallest smidge. Hope. They will see that where they are at is not the end
of it, that there is hope that they will come out of that situation that they
will be found, looked after, cared for when they felt they were left behind. I
realised that though it may sound extreme the way it’s been phrased, it refers
to all of us. To you and me. It refers to people who feel like they’re not
loved, who maybe are having difficulties with finance, family troubles,
physical illness, depression, anything that hinders them from being fully
happy. Anything that holds them back from moving forward how they want. Jesus
came for us all because no one has a perfect life without any troubles, not
just one form like mental troubles, but also material, physical, emotional and
most especially, spiritual. When you have troubles in any aspect of your life,
it damages your spiritual life and it is then when we need that light. When we
need to know that there is the One who will always be but our side and pull us
through all the hardship and difficulties.
The light
that this verse speaks of is grace.
