My Idea of Prayer #DecemberWonderings
Especially as it is the season of advent, many people get
more in touch with their spirituality, i.e. their relationship with God. And
the key part of that relationship is, you guessed it, prayer. There are many
discussions over prayer, how to pray, when to pray, who to pray with and for,
what a pray about, the order to pray in, the list can go on to be honest.
I’ve always felt uncomfortable with the idea of being
instructed on how to pray. Since being a Christian is pretty much based on
having a relationship with the ultimate Being, shouldn’t we have the option to
speak to God the way we want to? I believe that when you go to God, you should
be real, speak your heart.
I was reading an article on RELEVANT Magazine's website and I
saw this quote which pretty much sums up my views on prayer at the moment. (Though
the actual article was abut surviving a relationship breakup but it’s still
relevant to everyday prayer).
Ellah xx
Tell Him about your hurts, Tell
Him about your frustrations. Trust Him about you set backs. You may be on the
up and up one day, and the next day fall into a semi-obsessive funk. Its ok -
give the good and bad to God.
