Jefferson Bethke
Well it's been a long time since I did one of these. But I
felt that this guy deserved the recognition. When I first thought of and
started this series, I was in that YouTube craze where life pretty much
revolved around what I was watching on my computer screen. Well luckily that
has changes and I am no longer blindly following just anyone, but truly
reflecting on what I allow to influence me. And well, this guy has been one of
those lucky ones who I have approved of. :)

Now where to begin? Well Jefferson Bethke is a YouTuber, writer,
spoken word artist. On top of all this he is a husband and dad. But what stands
out the most is his love for Jesus, and that’s what kept me watching his
videos. I happened to come by him because a friend of mine recommended him to
me, and I thought "what’s there to lose?" so I went ahead and watched
one of his videos. I don’t remember which video I watched first, but I promptly
went on to watching many more in that one sitting. What he said captured me,
captured me in the sense that it made me think. Made me want to re-evaluate
what I thought of my faith, how I viewed my life and my relationship with
Jesus. It was an eye opener. The best thing was that what he said was genuine. You
could easily see that what he said is what he truly believed, and when it comes
to faith and religion, that’s what you need to make an impact. And what was
best was that he showed it in the way in which he ran his life. He had videos
of him and his wife addressing questions that no one (who I know of) in the Christian
community was directly answer or discussing. Through watching his videos, I
felt that I was learning something new with each new video. It made me make
goals and changes in how I viewed life. I think that it has subconsciously made
me more confident in speaking about my faith, and honestly, I believe it came
at the right time in my life.
In watching his videos I want to become a better person.
recently he has been doing more family vlogs than spoken word videos as
he said that he didn’t want what he said to be forced in any way, but from the
heart which I think just proves that what he says is worth listening to and
considering. I believe that a good YouTube video is one that leaves you with a
smile on your face. Leaves you impacted and having a mini discussion in your
head. I believe there is no point in watching videos or looking at media that isn’t
going to help you in life, or is just going to leave you feeling depleted and
looking down on yourself. That’s not what life’s about.
So hopefully this post interests you in him and you check
him out. Leave any comments on what you think :)
