500 Word Story
Hi guys!!
As I’m studying I thought I’d let you guys read a story me
and one of my besties wrote for a 500 word competition. I don’t exactly
remember who came up with what but I do remember who won the competition. A girl
whose story was just so cliché that I’m pretty sure it was a copy of another
story I had read. I hope you guys enjoy.
Comment below what you think of it.
The New girl
She walked into school, hair draped around her face, a
curtain obscuring her from the world. A raucous cacophony erupted from the
students, as she forced her way through their masses, earning a few pitiful
looks from most people along the way, was as expected. Another school… same
story. How had she let her parents talk her into this?
The mocking of her soon to be classmates filled the dimly
lit halls of her new personal hell. The distant ring of the school bell was
like music to her ears as everyone shuffled off to their classes, leaving her
alone with only the sound of the flickering light above her as company. Her form room, though small still managed to
contain the energetic pupils within it. As she opened the door the squeak from
its hinges seemed to last an eternity, announcing her arrival. Like a pool of
hungry piranhas all eyes focused on her. The teacher beckoned her forward
hastily, much to the girl’s discomfort and like every other student that has
ever been in this spot was asked, or rather commanded,
to tell everyone her name. A moment’s hesitation passed before her name tumbled
from her lips, echoing around the room, which was now silent apart from the few
people debating her reasons for joining this school. The teacher’s job done, he
now collapsed into a chair, unaware of the snickers directed at the new girl,
he turned his attention back to the article he was reading. She shuffled
towards the back of the class to the only available desk. Yet again she felt
the eyes of her classmates turn towards her, the intensity of their stares
burning a hole in her back.
The scrape of the chair as it was pulled across the floor
made her cringe as she perched hesitantly on the edge of it. She could hear the
close whispering, spreading rumours that would make her life hell.
She thought of all her other schools, how they had treated
her. She remembered the promise she had made to her mother, to try and fit in.
Her mother had given her everything that a daughter could ask for. She had a
lovely home, a loving family. But the one thing she longed for the most was
acceptance. To at least fit in. But the task seemed impossible when the world
refused to reason with you. A tap on her shoulder interrupted her thoughts. She
looked up to be faced with a mob of her classmates, staring, glaring at her.
Their eyes filled with hunger. ‘Why are you here, Goth?’ a boy asked.
Her heart sunk like the Titanic. A deep sorrow engulfed by
waves of hatred. She could feel the sea of tears, threatening to escape her eyes.
She had to get out. She turned to see a face of kindness and genuineness filled
with concern. ‘Don’t listen, they’re stupid. Are you ok?’
Relief swept through the girl’s body. She had a friend, at
last.
Hope you liked it,
Ellah xx
